This panorama, taken by James Blakeway, captures an exciting night of basketball and a new era for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, as Coach Ben Howland leads the team to victory at Humphrey Coliseum in his first game in Maroon and White.  Humphrey Coliseum, nicknamed The Hump, first opened in December 1975.  One of the most difficult venues for opposing teams, this 10,500-seat multi-purpose arena, is the largest in Mississippi and has played host to some of the most storied programs in the country.   MSU’s basketball program came into existence in the 1908-1909 season and boasts a proud history, including numerous SEC championships, SEC tournament championships and NCAA tournament appearances.
